How to book the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beach Goals! 4 bedroom 2.5 bath home, just a 5 minute walk to beach!!! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
