Getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
