When to book a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Oak Island. Book your Wilmington, NC rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking yourvacation home:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Private Saltwater Pool, With Excellent Ocean Views And Only 2 Blocks From the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
