Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Hobbs Realty - \"Enjoy the Show\" in this oceanfront home with swimming pool! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
