Getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Give the Gift of a Beach Getaway
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
