Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Charming 1 bedroom property in Harbour Village has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
