Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Coastal Condo Close to EVERYTHING! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
