The first floor has three bedrooms: one king, one queen that overlooks the ocean. The third bedroom is ideal for the smaller deck hands in your event. It features twin bunk beds with an additional twin bed.
The upstairs offers an open floor plan with living area, dining, and kitchen ~ all with striking vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. The leather sectional in the living area has a pull out queen bed.
The upstairs primary has a king bed with ocean vistas and huge en-suite bathroom with a walk in, tiled shower.
This home offers two separate living areas, one on each floor, with their own hi-def Intelligent TV's. The first floor living area has a coffee / wine bar kitchenette, along with a microwave. Every bedroom has a hi-def Intelligent TV along with access to one of four decks ~ two on the front of the home overlooking the Atlantic ~ two on the back.
OIB offers multiple dining and entertainment options. There's miniature golf, a maritime museum, homemade ice cream shop, rental stores for just about anything. For the anglers, you'll find the Ocean Isle Fishing Center for charters and excursions. Just off the island is a Publix and Lowe's grocery stores. Golfers will delight in the multitude of golf courses in the area. Within a 15-min. drive is Calabash, known as one of the seafood capitals of the southeast. A 30-min. drive to the south is Myrtle Beach with shopping, dining, golf, and entertainment options to suit any age group. 45 mins. to the north is historic downtown Wilmington. . . .With all the offerings at your fingertips, we welcome you to Cuckoo's Nest on OIB.
The pool is open year round and can be heated for an additional cost of $150 a day. When heated, the pool water should be between 80-84 degrees depending on outside air temperatures and weather. You must pay for the entire stay and can not pick and choose days you want the pool heated. We can not guarantee the pool water temperatures due to the dependency of the weather and air temperatures, however the gas heaters are very effective during most conditions. Please keep in mind that the heater only runs when the pool pump is running and typically the pump does not run at nighttime due to time schedule.
The pool and/or spa is private and unattended, so swim at your own risk. All kids must be supervised in the water at all times by an adult. No food, drinks, alcohol, glass, etc are allowed in or around the pool. Pools are serviced regularly, however please keep in mind that due to the tropical nature of the island, it is not unusual to find unexpected debris and sand in the pool.
We cannot guarantee the elevator will be working due to circumstances out of our control. Please read elevator instructions CAREFULLY before operating (found in the notebook at the home). User error will result in a $100 service charge. No kids are allowed in the elevator without an adult. Use at your own risk.

Wilmington, NC rental property booking tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking the right Wilmington, NC rental:
- Start by having your group select dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Spacious 4-Bedroom Cuckoos Nest in Ocean Isle Beach, NC Pool and Elevator has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
