Strategies for getting the best rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Great Family Get-Away, Walk to Beach & Restaurants, Big Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
