Finding the best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Wilmington, NC rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Choosing the best rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Great rates on Studio unit that sleeps 4. On golf course and minutes from beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
