Vacation rental tips:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the perfect rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • To start, have your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Harrell’s Haven-Waterfront, Dock, Pool\/Hot tub\n\n has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
