Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summertime is high season in Holden Beach. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Hobbs Realty - Oceanfront with Heated Pool, Elevator, and Hot Tub has 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
