Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Wilmington, NC rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Historic Hideaway Downtown, Wilmington w\/ parking has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
