The House of Zen is a beautiful beach bungalow located about 5 mins. from the Oak Island's Beaches. Unwind by the outdoor fire pit in a FENCED backyard that is great for your kids and family pets! The beach is an simple drive, walk, or bicycle ride.

We have bicycles, beach chairs, and a buggy to make the trip down to the beach easier or to visit the close by parks and eateries. The detached building, Zen Den, has a bedroom set up and an office for those who need a remote workplace for a longer stay!

The main home has two bedrooms and the two bathrooms. One room is set up as a kids room with two sets of twin bunk beds while the other is the primary bedroom that has a King size bed.

The detached building is the Zen Den! It has a Queen sized bed, TV, and an office for those who need some additional space or a place to work while visiting! The home is set up with keypad locks that are synced up so that you can have fast access back and forth from the detached room and main home and be secure.

The backyard is fenced in and has access to the shed. In the shed you will find bicycles, beach chairs, ladder golf, bocci ball and a buggy for getting all the gear to the beach! A pump and some hardware for the bicycles is in there as well just in case.

About the Area

Located near the beach, this vacation home is in Long Beach, a neighborhood in Oak Island. Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport. North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher and Magic Mountain Fun Park are also worth visiting. Kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkeling offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with cycling nearby.

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.

  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
