Rental home tips:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Wilmington. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Lux Historic Dist. – Walking Distance to Riverwalk has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
