How to find the best Carolina Beach vacation home experience:

When to book a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • First, have your family choose date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Marsh front home with ocean views, 5 minute stroll to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
