Booking the best rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Book your Wilmington, NC vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking the perfectrental:
- Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Mins to Downtown, Live Oak Concerts, Convention Center & Beach! Pet Friendly!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
