Wilmington, NC vacation rental booking tips:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Book your rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking the best Wilmington, NC rental:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Mid-Island home with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
