Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. New 3BR, 2.5 BA Build Downtown! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
