How to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 0511 Coral Sunrise by Atlantic Towers has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
