Booking the best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A Whelk on the Beach-Upper by RedAwning has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
