Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Wilmington, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beach Harbor Unit 32B by RedAwning has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
