Tips and Tricks to get the best Oak Island rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Wave Watcher: Newly renovated 5 Bedroom Oceanfront Home with Stunning Views! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .

  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
