Tips and Tricks to get the best Holden Beach vacation home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront screened porch & private walkway to beach, 3 outdoor showers & WiFi has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
