Booking the best Carolina Beach vacation home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanview unit with a pool, just steps from the beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
