Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the right Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Old North State of Mind: Cozy Cottage, Dog Friendly Home with Fenced Yard has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
