Holden Beach vacation rental home tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. On Holden Beach Island has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
