How to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation rental:

  • First, have your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Relax and enjoy being “Sunkissed by the Sea” with Spectacular views!!! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
