Finding the best Carolina Beach vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. SC1A2: Lake 'N Sea: Oceanview, Lakeview, Close to Boardwalk has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC attraction you love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
