Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Wilmington, NC restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • First, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Shenanigans on the Beach (SOB) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
