Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick your Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • To start, have your family commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4 Bedroom Upscale Duplex with a Pool has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC attraction you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
