Shedding family family pets and mid-size pets or bigger are not allowed unfortunately.
Watch our virtual tour:

We do not allow the boat to be taken out of the slip. Your rental is specifically for staying aboard overnight. Even if you have sailing experience, our insurance does not allow any sailing unless we take you.
We can discover and arrange a sailing excursion during your stay as well.
Do we allow PETS? Animals must be approved BEFORE reserving and are a case-by-case basis. We appreciate pets and have 2 cats and 2 dogs ourselves; however we do not bring them with us to the boat due to additional cleaning, wear and tear on the boat, and barking at the marina. If you are requesting to bring your furr-infant, you must inquire. We normally approve SMALLER, NON-SHEDDING pets for a nominal $75 fee. Dogs that shed and are mid-size or bigger breeds are not approved. Boat life is unique and we've had issues in the past with dog hair all over our couches, floors, and on top deck which requires a double cleaning. So please inquire about bringing your pet(s) BEFORE booking. We savor your understanding.
If you adore the water and are passionate about unique experiences, our yacht will be above and beyond what any hotel condo can come close to. She's securely docked in a slip with “shore power” (i.e. full electricity), air conditioning (2 units), heating, kitchen with dual sinks, hot/cold filtered water, refrigerator, freezer, pantry storage, microwave, coffee maker, electric skillet, Yeti cooler, sleeping quarters (up to 5*), bathroom head, salon living room, TV, couches, linens and towels supplied, beach supplies, fishing poles, 2-person kayak, and much more!
* In regards to sleeping arrangements, please inquire if you have more than 3 adults in your event. 2 adults can comfortably sleep in the queen bed located in the aft master cabin. 1-2 adults or kids can sleep in the forward V-berth but that is the size of a twin bed. 2 kids can effortlessly sleep in the V-berth. There is also a couch in the salon AND our salon table can be pushed down into an additional modest bed. However, we ask guests not to push down the table unless definitely necessary. There are also cushions and additional sheets available if you’d like to sleep on deck and watch the stars at nighttime!

(Or type up “Virtual tour of our sailboat, Why Knot and Kevin Snyder”)
Our yacht is securely tied up in its own private slip at the marina. You will have other boats next to you. She is spaciously comfortable inside, a short walk or drive to public beach access, and is safely accessible in the marina and surrounding town area.
Yacht amenities:
* She has two(2) cabins (“forward” and “aft”).
* Our yacht galley (kitchen) offers a dual sink, filtered hot and cold water, kitchenware and plates/cups, refrigerator, freezer, cabinet storage for your food pantry items, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, George Foreman grille, electric skillet. There is also a BBQ grille, picnic table and hammock at the dock master office for your use. You’ll have everything you need to keep and prepare food. However we encourage you to appreciate some of our local eateries and cuisine. Inside our welcome document are recommended eateries!
* A head (bathroom) with complimentary toiletries, shower supplies, etc. (see notes at bottom) … we do ask guests to use the marina restroom rather than the toilet on board.
* There are eight(8) opening port-holes and three(3) hatches that provide plenty of fresh ocean breeze!
* There are storage cubbies and a closet for all your bags.
.
* Television, radio, card games and plenty of books to keep you casual.
* Immediately upon going down below you’ll be amazed by the spectacular bespoke teak interior throughout the boat. We feel the teak alone and walk-around aft cabin sets this vessel far apart! Also, you'll see how cavernous she is with plenty of storage all around.
* Also on the boat you can take advantage of our kayak, fishing poles, fishing equipment, casting nets, beach equipment, and more. If you have questions about included supplies or beach items, simply inquire. We have allocated one of the bathrooms to be for storage as well as an additional dock patio chair.
* On deck of the yacht, the cockpit is extremely spacious and this is where you'll enjoy the sunset and sunrise vistas! We've added a private table that you can enjoy a meal and/or drinks while calming and appreciating the sound of the water, dolphins and birds flying by.
Our marina provides even more amenities:
* Short walk or drive to the beach
* Laundry
* Free showers and bathrooms (see note at bottom)
* BBQ grille, picnic table and seating
* Free parking (decal included & required)
* Marina store providing ice, beer, water, modest snacks and various supplies
* The marina is a short walk, bicycle, car or Uber ride to the Carolina Beach pier, the Carolina Beach boardwalk, and dozens of bars and eateries.
We'll have the yacht professionally cleaned and awaiting your arrival! Self-check in. No one will greet you unless requested. Just let us know!
We live a few hours away in Raleigh, NC but we have multiple people onsite who can be available as needed.
Important notes:
* Sailing charters can be added for additional fee and options are day sail or evening sunset sail ($650). Up to 6 people and always weather and Captain dependent. Inquire about sailing asap upon booking your stay aboard. Sailing is a BONUS so if we cannot take you sailing, please do not let that be such a disappointment that it ruins your trip!
We'll touch base a few days before your stay as well.
* Starting the yacht engine or taking the boat out on the water is not allowed.
* Instead of hard suitcases suitcases, bring soft suitcases bags.
* Heavy drinking is not allowed onboard. Safety is essential and we ask all guests to act responsibly. You are responsible for own safety onboard and on the dock.
* NOTE ABOUT BATHROOM AND SHOWER: You and your guests having the right expectation is crucial to have an fantastic experience. We do all we can to EXCEED your expectations.
We prefer guests to use the marina facilities for the restroom/shower rather than onboard. We do have an onboard toilet for emergencies. Waste is pumped into an onboard holding container that can conveniently fill up quickly when used frequently. Therefore, we ask (and appreciate) guests helping us by using the marina restroom as much as possible! We’re only a few steps away from the marina facilities. Contact me to inquire about this further. We do NOT have a shower on board.
Shower and restroom facilities are common use areas at the marina where marina boaters and transient boats passing by also use. Therefore, please understand and be aware that cleanliness is beyond our control. We recognize this is a challenge and appreciate your understanding of boat life. Expect “glamping” (i.e. glorified camping) conditions for your bathroom and shower use.
We look forward to your stay aboard Why Knot!!

Tips to get the perfect Carolina Beach rental home experience:
When to visit Carolina Beach & When to reserve a Carolina Beach rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Stay Aboard Our 40-Foot Private Sailing Yacht w\/ 2 Cabins — private slip & AC! has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
