Our top Wilmington, NC vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking yourvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Tahiti at Island Breeze of CB Unique stay Design has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
