Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Wave Wonder’s- Wonderful Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
