Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Wrightsville Beach vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Wrightsville Beach. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Stunning oceanfront end unit in Duneridge! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC attraction you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
