Finding the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Beautiful 3 Bedroom, Ocean View home on BHI has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
