Getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in Oak Island. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 10 BR\/9 BA Oceanfront Home w\/ Pool & Elevator-Dog Friendly-Sleeps 32 has 11 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
