Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Wilmington. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental in Wilmington:

  • Start by having your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Breathing Space - Arts & Antiques cottage - pet friendly! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
