Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Carolina Beach. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the best vacation rental:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Cabana 213 on the Carolina Beach Boardwalk! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
