The home is a .3 mile walk/bicycle to beach, .4 mile walk/bicycle to jailhouse and .6 mile walk/bicycle to market.

Though you may never want to leave the back porch. After a day or riding the waves, sink deep in the cushions with a beverage and book and end up quietly pondering the sculptural intricacies of Live Oak trees.
The living room has a cathedral ceiling that floods the room with light and makes the comfortable space feel even bigger. The 46-inch intelligent TV is perched above a rare cedar mantle. Live Edge Oak shelves add more warmth to the room. The open floor plan, flowing into the dining area, gives everybody the chance to be together-and spread out. Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Bald Head Island. Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Nestled in the Maritime Forest with separate crofter; 2 golf carts; access to BHI Club has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
