Tips for getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 1931 Beachside Bungalow, one block from beach and boardwalk! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Wilmington, NC destination you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
