How to book the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

When to book a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • Summer is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing the perfectvacation home:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Good Vibes Carolina Beach by RedAwning has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
