Smile and Wave. Our second row beach home has been newly refreshed and we can't wait to share this family friendly home with you! We are located on the east side of Ocean Isle Beach about 1 mile from the center of town. Our home is steps away from the beach access so its very simple to run back and forth to the home for anything you may have forgotten!
Our reverse floor plan optimizes ocean vistas in the space that you will be spending most of your time. The open family room, dining room, and kitchen offer beautiful vistas of the ocean. With 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, Smile and Wave sleeps up to 14 people so we have plenty of room for you, your family, and your friends. There are 2 master bedrooms (one on the top floor and one on the first floor) each offering King beds and their own bath. The 3 remaining bedrooms are all on first floor along with two additional bathrooms. Each level features a enormous deck spanning the width of the home for calming or dining . All bedrooms have TVs with Roku devices so you can sign in to any streaming service that you like. There is a huge, private outdoor shower to rinse off in after a day at the beach!
For families with modest kids, our home is outfitted with a infant gate, pack and play, booster seat, high chair, umbrella stroller, and a variety of beach toys.
We added an EV charger in 2022 that is available to our guests for an additional fee.

Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your search:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Newly remodeled second row home with beautiful views and steps to the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
