It’s time for you to savor a vacation on the island and there’s no better way to relax than with Sandy Palms! Conveniently located in the center of fun close to dining options and the Ocean Crest Fishing Pier, this pet friendly beach home is only a five-min. walk to the oceanfront via public beach access and a three-min. walk to the breathtaking walkway at 19th Street, which provides handsome vistas and outstanding opportunities to watch shore birds feed in the Davis Canal. Welcoming one dog up to 30lbs, this classic vacation rental with a fenced backyard is a great homebase for families to discover the island from.

An enclosed staircase under the home leads up to the first level landing, where you’ll enter the comfortable living room. A huge intelligent TV is supplied so you can stream your favorite shows with the ones you appreciate. Just off the living room is the kitchen, completely equipped with everything you need to prepare family meals. A modest dining table seats four to five comfortably.

Further down the hall, you’ll find a full bathroom with a standard tub/shower combo and the first of two bedrooms on this floor, furnished with a double bed and a twin bed. The master bedroom, located off the living room, features a king bed and an ensuite bath providing both a step-in shower for washing the sand away and a garden tub for soaking adventure weary muscles. On the other side of the living room, the covered front porch with outdoor furnishings provides a ideal perch to catch the sunset and appreciate glimpses of a marsh view and area wildlife from this shade respite.

The final sleeping space is located on the upper level, which is reached via the external enclosed entry staircase. Here, you’ll find a second seating area with a loveseat and recliner along with the second flat screen TV. Please note that no cable or streaming services are supplied directly on this TV - guests must bring their personal streaming devices and appropriate hookups in order to utilize this TV. To the other side of this bigger open space are two double-over-double bunk beds. A half bathroom is also located on this level, and a final interior staircase leads to the highest deck on the property, where you can soak in the sunshine as you sip your favorite morning coffee. Appreciate expansive vistas that stretch to the Atlantic Ocean glimmering on the horizon from this vantage point or watch the kids as they play in the fenced backyard below.

Under the home, you’ll find thoughtful features to help you make the most of your time here, including two outdoor dining sets, a shaded porch swing and even an enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold water that makes rinsing the sand off of babies and fur-babies alike a breeze. Gather around the firepit in the evening with drinks and s’mores and relax to the sound of the waves while the kids play safely in the fenced yard. After all, the best memories are made on days that begin and end with Sandy Palms!

Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Sandy Palms: Cozy Cottage Close to Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
