Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Serene Coastal Escape @ The Waterway has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
