Tricks and tips to get the best Wilmington rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Summer is high season in Wilmington. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental:

  • To start, have your group select a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Serenity in Central ILM- 10 min to Beach+ King Bed has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your family.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
