Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking your Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. New Hot Tub, Surf Studio, Easy Walk to Beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
