Strategies to get the best Wilmington vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing the rightrental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. WOW! Pool+Pizza Oven near Beaches, Downtown & UNCW has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
