Strategies for getting the best vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. Book your Wilmington, NC rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Luxury ocean front home with huge roof top deck! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
