Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Bald Head Island. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Breathtaking views of Bald Head Island Harbor and Old Baldy Lighthouse has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
